Yoga at Praana

Where Movement Becomes Medicine for the Mind

At Praana, yoga is not about touching your toes, mastering complicated poses, or pushing your body to its limits.

It is about awareness.

The awareness of your breath.

The way your body moves.

The tension you carry.

The thoughts that occupy your mind.

And the quiet space that appears when you stop rushing.

Within the Ayurvedic tradition, yoga and Ayurveda are closely connected. Both encourage a more conscious relationship with the body, mind, daily routine, and natural rhythms.

Our practices can be adapted according to your experience, physical ability, wellness goals, and the recommendations of your retreat programme.

You don't have to be flexible.

You don't have to be experienced.

You simply have to arrive.

Yoga & Ayurveda

Movement With Intention

Ayurveda traditionally understands individual constitutions through the three Doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Yoga can be adapted within this traditional framework through differences in:

  • Pace

  • Intensity

  • Grounding

  • Breathwork

  • Rest

  • Meditation

  • Movement

  • Time of practice

Rather than claiming that yoga directly "balances your body chemistry" or guarantees changes in cortisol or hormones, we focus on its established wellness benefits: movement, flexibility, strength, body awareness, relaxation, and stress management.

The practice changes according to the person.

The intention remains the same:

greater awareness and a calmer relationship with yourself.

Our Daily Yoga Practices

Two Moments. Two Different Energies.

Your day at Praana can begin with movement and end with stillness.

Morning Sunrise Yoga

Wake With the Island

As morning light enters the tropical landscape, your practice begins slowly.

The morning session may include:

  • Gentle joint mobility

  • Hatha-inspired postures

  • Sun salutations

  • Standing sequences

  • Balance work

  • Gentle strengthening

  • Stretching

  • Breath awareness

  • Short meditation

The practice is designed to awaken the body without overwhelming it.

Stretch.

Breathe.

Move.

Begin again.

Evening Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra

Let the Day Become Quiet

Evening practice is intentionally different.

The body begins to soften.

Movement becomes slower.

The breath becomes more spacious.

Restorative postures invite stillness, followed by Yoga Nidra, a guided relaxation practice traditionally practiced while lying comfortably.

Yoga Nidra can be a beautiful way to transition from the activity of the day toward rest.

Nothing to achieve.

Nowhere to go.

Just time to be still.

Pranayama

The Practice of Conscious Breathing

Your breath accompanies you everywhere—yet most of us rarely notice it.

Pranayama introduces conscious breathing practices designed to develop awareness and control of the breath.

Sessions may include appropriate practices such as:

  • Slow diaphragmatic breathing

  • Alternate-nostril breathing

  • Breath awareness

  • Gentle rhythmic breathing

  • Guided relaxation

Practices are adapted to individual ability and suitability.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Notice what changes when you stop rushing.

Gentle Hatha Yoga

Build a Foundation

Hatha-inspired practice provides a considered introduction to traditional yoga postures.

Sessions can explore:

Alignment

Mobility

Balance

Strength

Flexibility

Breath

Awareness

For beginners, movements can be simplified.

For experienced practitioners, the practice can become more nuanced.

Begin where you are.

Vinyasa Flow

Let Breath Lead Movement

For guests with appropriate experience, Vinyasa-inspired sessions connect movement with breath through flowing sequences.

The pace can be adjusted to suit the group.

The emphasis remains on conscious movement rather than performance.

One breath.

One movement.

One moment at a time.

Restorative Yoga

The Art of Doing Less

Sometimes the body doesn't need another challenge.

It needs support.

Restorative yoga uses comfortable positions, props, and longer periods of stillness to encourage physical and mental relaxation.

It can be particularly appealing after travel, intensive wellness treatments, or a busy period of work.

Let the body soften.

Let the breath settle.

Let yourself rest.

Yoga Nidra

Guided Deep Rest

Yoga Nidra is traditionally practiced lying comfortably while following a guided sequence of awareness and relaxation.

It is often described as yogic sleep, although you remain guided throughout the practice.

It can become a peaceful evening ritual after an Ayurvedic treatment or before bedtime.

Close your eyes.

Listen.

Follow the voice.

Allow the day to fall away.

Yoga for the Modern Body

Especially for Desk Workers & Burnt-Out Professionals

Hours at a desk can leave the body feeling compressed.

  • Neck mobility

  • Shoulder opening

  • Spinal movement

  • Hip mobility

  • Postural awareness

  • Gentle strengthening

  • Breath awareness

  • Relaxation

Your body was designed to move.

Give it the opportunity.

Absolutely not. Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga.

Can I have private yoga classes?

Can yoga be adapted for joint stiffness or mobility limitations?

Many practices can be modified, but suitability depends on the individual. Guests with significant injuries or medical conditions should discuss their needs before participating.

Is Yoga Nidra the same as sleeping?

Do you teach traditional yoga?

Our approach draws on traditional yoga practices while adapting instruction to modern guests and individual abilities.

Is yoga a treatment for medical conditions?

Yoga should not be presented as a replacement for medical treatment. It can be a complementary wellness practice, and specific conditions may require medical or physiotherapy guidance.
