Sound Healing at Praana
When You Stop Listening to the World, You Begin to Hear Yourself
There are sounds everywhere.
Traffic.
Notifications.
Conversations.
Air-conditioning.
Phones.
Deadlines.
Even when everything becomes quiet, the mind can remain loud.
Sound Healing at Praana offers a different kind of listening.
You lie comfortably.
You close your eyes.
A bowl begins to resonate.
A gong moves slowly through the space.
A chime appears and disappears.
Your attention follows the sound.
And gradually, the need to think about everything else can soften.
Sound-based relaxation may influence subjective stress and wellbeing, and some studies have explored effects on physiological measures such as heart rate and cortisol. However, evidence remains emerging, and claims that specific frequencies reliably "heal cells," remove stored trauma, or produce particular brainwave states are not established clinical facts.
At Praana, we therefore approach sound as a sensory relaxation and mindfulness practice, not as a replacement for medical treatment.
You don't have to believe in vibration.
You simply have to listen.
The Science of Sound
From Mental Noise to Sensory Rest
Sound is physical.
A vibrating instrument creates pressure waves that travel through the air and reach the ear.
Your nervous system then processes those sounds as an experience.
Slow, predictable, immersive sounds can become an effective focus for attention and relaxation.
During a sound bath, you may notice:
Your breathing becoming slower
Your muscles beginning to soften
Your attention moving away from everyday thoughts
A feeling of spaciousness
A quieter internal rhythm
We don't describe this as "flushing toxins from your cells" or guaranteeing a transition from Beta to Alpha or Theta brainwaves. Brain activity is complex, and individual responses to sound vary.
The experience is simpler than the science:
Listen.
Breathe.
Rest.
Sound & Ayurveda
The Tradition of Shabda
Within Indian philosophical and yogic traditions, Shabda refers to sound, word, or sacred utterance and has a deep contemplative significance.
Sound has also long been incorporated into traditional practices through:
Mantra
Chanting
Recitation
Bells
Musical instruments
Rhythmic practices
Meditation
At Praana, we bring this traditional appreciation of sound into a contemporary wellness setting.
Rather than claiming that sound physically clears "Manasic Ama" or repairs subtle energy channels, we use the language of Ayurveda as a traditional framework for understanding attention, mental quiet, and inner balance.
Sometimes healing begins simply by becoming quiet enough to notice.
Our Sound Healing Experiences
Four Ways to Enter the Resonance
01 — Tibetan & Crystal Singing Bowls
A World of Overtones
The first bowl begins.
A rich tone expands through the room.
Another joins it.
Then another.
Each sound overlaps, fades, and leaves space for the next.
Singing bowls produce complex tones and overtones that can create a deeply immersive listening experience.
Guests may experience:
Deep relaxation
Reduced mental distraction
Heightened body awareness
A sense of spaciousness
A peaceful transition into meditation
We don't claim that bowls "tune" individual chakras or directly alter cellular function.
We simply invite you to experience what happens when your attention is given somewhere beautiful to rest.
02 — Gong & Resonant Sound Bath
Feel the Sound Around You
The gong begins softly.
Then the sound grows.
Deep tones.
Higher harmonics.
Long vibrations.
The acoustic field changes continuously.
Unlike listening to a conventional piece of music, you don't have to follow a melody.
There is nothing to understand.
You simply receive the sound.
A gong session may be especially appealing to guests seeking a deeply immersive relaxation experience.
It should not, however, be described as physically dissolving "blockages" or releasing stored trauma at a cellular level.
Let the sound surround you.
Let your body become still.
03 — Private Body-Placement Sound Therapy
A More Intimate Experience
For guests seeking a private session, selected singing bowls may be positioned near or, where appropriate and consented to, gently on the body.
The experience combines:
Sound
Gentle vibration
Breath awareness
Stillness
Focused attention
The practitioner adapts the session to your comfort.
There is no requirement to endure intense vibration.
Nothing is forced.
Nothing is rushed.
Your comfort comes first.
04 — Tuning Forks & Vocal Toning
Sound You Can Feel From Within
Tuning forks produce distinct tones that can become points of focused attention.
Vocal toning takes the experience in another direction.
Your own voice becomes the instrument.
A gentle hum.
A sustained vowel.
A resonant tone.
The vibration becomes something you experience internally as well as hear externally.
Your breath creates the sound.
The sound brings you back to your breath.
Sound Healing for Deep Rest
When Your Mind Needs Somewhere Else to Go
Sound baths can be particularly appealing when your attention feels overloaded.
Perhaps you've spent the day:
Answering emails.
Making decisions.
Looking at screens.
Managing people.
Travelling.
Thinking ahead.
A sound session creates a temporary environment where you don't need to solve anything.
You simply listen.
For guests experiencing persistent insomnia, anxiety, depression, or other mental-health conditions, sound healing should be considered complementary relaxation—not medical treatment.
For Burnt-Out Professionals
Put Down the Mental Load
You don't need to analyse the sound.
You don't need to understand the instrument.
You don't need to achieve a meditative state.
For a little while:
There are no decisions to make.
No emails to answer.
No notifications to check.
Just listen.
For Sleep-Deprived Guests
Let Evening Become Softer
A gentle evening sound bath can become a beautiful transition toward rest.
Lower stimulation.
Dimmer light.
Slower breathing.
Immersive sound.
Quiet integration.
It may help create a relaxing bedtime environment, although we do not guarantee that sound therapy will treat insomnia or produce specific changes in sleep architecture.
Prepare the body for rest.
Let sleep arrive in its own time.
For Curious Beginners
You Don't Need to Understand Anything
Never experienced a sound bath?
That's perfectly fine.
You don't need to know the difference between a Tibetan bowl and a crystal bowl.
You don't need to understand frequencies.
You don't need to meditate beforehand.
Lie down.
Close your eyes.
Listen.
The experience speaks for itself.
For Experienced Wellness Guests
Go Beyond Silence
If meditation, yoga, breathwork, or somatic practices are already part of your life, sound can become another doorway into focused awareness.
Use the tones as an anchor.
Notice subtle sensations.
Observe the mind.
Explore stillness.
Let listening become meditation.
A Sound Healing Journey
What to Expect
Your exact session depends on the format, but a typical experience may unfold like this:
1 — Arrival
Enter the pavilion.
Choose a comfortable position.
Allow the body to settle.
2 — Breath Alignment
A few slow breaths.
Notice the body.
Feel the support beneath you.
3 — First Resonance
A singing bowl rings.
Listen to the beginning of the sound.
Then notice its disappearance.
4 — Acoustic Immersion
Bowls, gongs, chimes, or other instruments gradually create a changing soundscape.
You don't need to follow it.
Simply receive it.
5 — Deep Stillness
The sounds become softer.
The spaces between them become longer.
Your attention rests.
6 — Grounded Awakening
The final tone fades.
You notice your breathing.
Feel the floor beneath you.
Move your fingers.
Open your eyes slowly.
Sit quietly for a moment.
Then return to the world—just a little more slowly.

FAQ
Do I need meditation experience?
No. Sound baths are very accessible to beginners.
Do I need to lie completely still?
You are encouraged to remain comfortable, but you can adjust your position whenever needed.
Will I feel the vibrations?
You may experience sound physically as well as aurally, particularly with lower-frequency instruments. Individual experiences vary.
Can singing bowls heal my cells?
There is not sufficient scientific evidence to claim that singing bowls directly heal or repair cells. We describe the experience as a relaxation, sensory, and contemplative practice.
Will a sound bath lower my cortisol?
Some research has explored physiological effects of sound-based relaxation, but results are not strong enough to guarantee a specific cortisol reduction for every guest.
Can sound healing cure insomnia?
No. It may support relaxation and a calming bedtime routine, but persistent insomnia requires appropriate assessment and treatment.
Can I have a private session?
Yes. Private sound sessions can be arranged where available.
Can the bowls be placed on my body?
In selected private sessions, bowls may be placed on or near the body with your consent and subject to practitioner assessment. They are not placed directly over areas where this would be inappropriate.
Let the Last Sound Fade
Perhaps you don't need another treatment.
Perhaps you don't need another conversation.
Perhaps, for a little while, you simply need to stop receiving information.
Close your eyes.
Listen to one tone.
Notice it arrive.
Notice it change.
Notice it disappear.
And then notice the silence that remains.
