Treatments at Praana Ayurveda

At Praana Ayurvedic Boutique Hotel, every guest receives a personalized treatment plan prepared by our Ayurvedic doctors. We use authentic Sri Lankan therapies, herbal medicines, and traditional healing techniques to restore balance and wellbeing. Below are some of the key treatments we offer:

Abhyanga – Full-Body Ayurvedic Oil Massage

Abhyanga is one of the most well-known and nurturing therapies in Ayurveda. Warm herbal oils, carefully chosen according to your body type (Dosha), are applied in synchronized strokes by two therapists. This deeply relaxing treatment improves blood circulation, nourishes muscles and skin, lubricates the joints, and helps release toxins from the body. Beyond the physical benefits, Abhyanga calms the mind, reduces anxiety, and restores inner balance, leaving you refreshed and re-energized.

Shirodhara – The Flow of Serenity

In this deeply soothing therapy, a continuous stream of warm medicated oil is gently poured over the forehead, specifically targeting the ‘third eye’ region. Shirodhara works directly on the nervous system, inducing profound relaxation, improving the quality of sleep, and reducing stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue. It is also highly effective for migraines, tension headaches, and hormonal imbalances. Many guests describe it as a spiritual experience that clears the mind and enhances emotional wellbeing.

Panchakarma – Ayurvedic Detox & Rejuvenation

Panchakarma is Ayurveda’s most powerful healing and detoxification program. It consists of a series of five cleansing therapies designed to eliminate deep-rooted toxins, restore balance in the body’s energies (Doshas), and rejuvenate both body and mind. The process includes therapies such as:

  • Vamana (therapeutic emesis) to expel excess mucus

  • Virechana (purgation) to cleanse the liver and digestive system

  • Basti (medicated enemas) for colon health and detox

  • Nasya (nasal cleansing) to purify the head region

  • Raktamokshana (blood cleansing – rarely practiced today)

Each Panchakarma program is tailored to the individual and carried out under the close supervision of our Ayurvedic doctors. It not only treats chronic illnesses but also strengthens immunity, slows ageing, and promotes long-term wellness.
